Don't ask me why i didn't check before i brought it but i didn't.
Anyway the shoulder straps are screwed on so i could get them off but it means i have to pull the plastic off the back of the chair.
The waist bits don't come off at all.
How can i clean them and get them dry quick enough.
I can't believe they don't come off.

Wash with hot soapy water and then use a hairdryer on them?
gloworm Sun 25-Apr-04 20:49:46
how about baby wipes for a handy quick wash after each feed?
Nutcracker Sun 25-Apr-04 20:50:24
Will that be enough to give them a really good clean though. Ds has just started trying to feed himself, so they are really dirty. I had been wiping them after every meal but they just look awful.

works a treat

Try soapy water and a soft nailbrush, that should bring up most of the dirt..
Codswallop Sun 25-Apr-04 20:51:46
oh
do! I would cut hem off and buy some new ones
3GirlsMum Sun 25-Apr-04 20:52:21
Or use an old toothbrush.
gloworm Sun 25-Apr-04 20:53:49
what about some dettol spray or tea tree on the baby wipes? should be enough to clean them and should dry quickly
Nutcracker Sun 25-Apr-04 20:54:22
Actually Coddy thats quite a good idea. I could just attach some reins then couldn't i ??
Beccarollover Sun 25-Apr-04 20:54:41
does the sit bit come off that they are attached to?
Take the seat bit off and lie the seat in a way that the straps can hang into a basin with bleach in#?
maisystar Sun 25-Apr-04 20:54:54
cut the highchair straps of but leave the d-ring things then buy reins and attach to highchair, you can then just remove them and stick em in the washing machine.
had same problem with car seat straps but obivously cant just chop them off
gloworm Sun 25-Apr-04 20:55:47
vanish soap and toothpaste for stubborn stains???
Janh Sun 25-Apr-04 20:56:00
Well it's a bit late now but next time there is a day like today, scrub them (nailbrush?) with soapy water or some sort of spray cleaner (1001 maybe), rinse them as well as you can - maybe put clean water in an icecream container and dangle them in it - then stand the highchair in the sun. I used to do this with buggy straps (when had buggy!) You could blot them with a clean towel first to get the excess off.
Actually if you get two empty icecream containers you could soak them in it first, with something soapy, and then scrub etc.
gloworm Sun 25-Apr-04 20:57:15
good idea maisystar...i did that and it worked a treat.
Nutcracker Sun 25-Apr-04 20:57:40
Right i'll try and clean them, if it doesn't work i'll chop them off.
I have some spare reins too so that'll be easy enough to do.
Nutcracker Sun 25-Apr-04 20:59:16
Erm Jan, i couldn't do that, i live in a flat. Couldn't risk leaving it outside, it would get pinched.
LIZS Sun 25-Apr-04 21:06:57
Could try bio washing powder dissolved in hot water , Vanish Oxy Clean, bicarb of soda or even sterilising tablet/Milton solution. Could you use an old toothbrush to scrub with ?
Codswallop Sun 25-Apr-04 21:07:27
Kim and aggie would say a tothbrush a dn vinegar!
Janh Sun 25-Apr-04 21:10:43

My highchair and pushchair are like that too and they both get filthy. The annoying thing is that they look like they would come off. In the highchair now I put the harness on first then put him in one of those all in one bib with sleeves, like art smocks. The harness is then covered. Still the bits in the folds of the seat still annoy me as I can't get them clean. I sometimes think I have that obsesseive complusive disorder about cleaning but am too lazy to actually do it, I just get annoyed by it.
Nutcracker Sun 25-Apr-04 22:18:44
Thats what i should of done Jane.
LOL Coddy
